Featuring bonus digital downloads from John Howie Jr. and Tift Merritt's 2012 reunion at Yep Roc Records

180-gram vinyl includes digital download for the full album

The Two Dollar Pistols, led by baritone singer John Howie, Jr., have gained the respect of country music fans worldwide through international touring and four critically acclaimed releases. With a soulful honky-tonk country sound as their foundation, the Chapel Hill-based Pistols drive their music home with an energetic edge that leaves their audiences wanting more. In 1999, frontman John Howie, Jr. and North Carolina native, Tift Merritt, joined forces to try out some country duets they were working on. After performing the songs to an enthusiastic audience at Chapel Hill venue Local 506, the duo decided to record a seven-song EP. Yep Roc Records released the EP on CD in October 1999. Now, more than a decade later, Yep Roc is releasing the record The Two Dollar Pistols With Tift Merritt on vinyl for the first time.

Howie told the Independent Weekly that he hopes that people will think of the Pistols as "a country band that likes R&B, that likes rock'n' roll, that likes rockabilly, that likes The Beatles, but not a rock ‘n' roll band that likes country music." What the Two Dollar Pistols are about is crafting fine songs and playing great music, period.
