On their Grammy Award-winning album Tassili, Tinariwen expanded the boundaries of their music, and world music, by collaborating with members of TV On The Radio, guitarist Nels Cline (Wilco) and members of the Dirty Dozen Brass Band. Far from compromising their hypnotic sound, Tinariwen made these western musicians come to them, seamlessly integrating the guests’ contributions into their music. Now the boundaries are pushed even further as Tinariwen work with noted remixers to expand into new territories. For the premiere release of this groundbreaking work on vinyl, Tinariwen add four new tracks – remixes by Four Tet, Animal Collective, Portugal the Man and Bobby Mac of Galactic. Together they have created a package that reaches deep into the essence of Tinariwen’s sound while simultaneously opening itself to the surrounding world.
