Ludwig van Beethoven's Concerto for Violin, Cello, and Piano in C major, Op. 56, more commonly known as the Triple Concerto, was composed in 1803 and later published in 1804 under Breitkopf & Härtel. The choice of the three solo instruments effectively makes this a concerto for piano trio and the only concerto Beethoven ever wrote for more than one solo instrument.

David Oistrakh (violin), Mstislav Rostropovich (cello), and Sviatoslav Richter (piano) join the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Herbert von Karajan for this truly legendary recording event captured at Jesus-Christus-Kirche, Berlin, on September 15-17, 1969. EMI waited many years to get these legendary artists together for this recording and the result is one of the greatest recordings this work has ever received!
