Recorded live in New York in October 1969, Simone's choice of songs for this performance further made the "high priestess of soul" tag seem ridiculous. However, on this recording, that is how she was introduced on stage. She opens with an almost classical version of the traditional "Black Is The Color Of My True Love's Hair" and goes on to cover African legend Miriam Makeba's "Westwind."
