Best known as the music director for David Bowie, Mike Garson is perhaps the most versatile pianist working today. For this project, Garson attracted some big names in jazz: Briam Bromberg (bass), Eric Marienthal (sax) and Ralph Humphry (drums). The "Prof." Johnson HDCD recording was made in a fine concert hall, and has RR's most vivid jazz sonics. These tracks were initially released as The Oxnard Sessions, Vol. II in 1993. The re-release includes a long-out-of-print solo improvisation, "A Gershwin Fantasia."
