Released in 1970, this was probably Randy Newman’s most acclaimed album. 12 Songs was recorded with a small combo, including Ry Cooder and Clarence White, which leaves plenty of room for Newman’s piano and bluesy voice. Newman sounds relaxed and confident. This was Randy Newman’s first great record.
