Fantastic 180-gram red vinyl version of previously unreleased broadcasts featuring rare versions of many early Springsteen hits

This double LP features two superb radio broacasts from early 1973, just six months after Springsteen had inked a record deal with Columbia. Tracks 1-5 are from the live broadcast on WBCN-FM Boston on Jan. 9, 1973. Tracks 6-12 are from a live broadcast on WMMR-FM Philadelphia on April 24, 1973, from The Main Point, Bryn Mawr, Philadelphia.

The musical landscape of the early 1970s was a period of turmoil and transition. Rock music was searching for a savior, a new Dylan (who had mostly gone into retreat), or Beatles to unite the genre. From the east coast of America, word began to filter through that this new-kid-on-the-block, Bruce Springsteen, breaking out of New Jersey, offered this much needed "hope" and that his live performances reconfirmed the faith in the redemptive power of rock 'n' roll. Here is Springsteen being interviewed and performing in a live radio show at WBCN-FM, and headlining a show with the E Street Band at The Main Point in Bryn Mawr, a small town outside Philadelphia. Hear such future hits as "Bishop Danced," "Does This Bus Stop At 82nd Street," and "Thundercrack."

It would be another couple years (1975) before Springsteen appeared on the cover of Time and Newsweek magazines — in the same week — as one reviewer termed it, the Born To Run moment. So pull up a chair, lean back and listen. This is Bruce before he became a rock 'n' roll god.
