"Patch The Sky continues a creative roll that's rarely slowed." — Kerrang, March 2016

The latest solo release from the former Husker Dü singer was written in solitude.

"These songs are my salvation. I've had a solid stretch of hard emotional times, and thanks for the condolences in advance," writes Bob Mould. "I don't want to go into the details — more death, relationships ending, life getting shorter — because they're already in the songs. Just listen and see if you can fit yourself into my stories."

Just a classic power trio lineup in the spirit of Midwest post-punk juggernaut Husker Dü and its barely-sweetened antecedent Sugar, with Bob Mould conjuring the ecstatic rage of his earlier bands for a grim new era, writes Rolling Stone. Mould apparently is still convinced that the best way to meet crushing hopelessness is by barreling head first through it with a throat-shredding howl and all amps cranked.
