A collection of hits, originally released in 1970 when Cash was at the zenith of his career (he even had his own TV series, The Johnny Cash Show, during this period). In 1968 “Folsom Prison Blues” (an updated verison of his early Sun single) hit No. 1 on the C&W charts, and the following year the song won a Grammy for best country vocal performance. Cash went on to become an active prisoner’s rights advocate in the 1970s, performing a series of prison concerts. This release also includes “Give My Love To Rose,” recorded in 1957, the same year that Cash made his Grand Ole Opry debut.
